On May 24, the kick-off meeting for the "Key Technologies and Applications of Intrinsically Safe, High-Energy-Density Lithium-Ion Power Battery Systems" project, part of the 14th Five-Year Plan's National Key R&D Program for New Energy Vehicles, was successfully held at CALB.

The project will leverage CALB's "Top-Stream Cylindrical" technology roadmap to develop materials and battery technologies that combine high safety with high energy density. It aims to systematically reveal the energy transfer and regulation mechanisms in high-energy-density batteries, propose more advanced methods for all-scenario battery fault diagnosis and thermal runaway prediction, and build a more robust, multi-level safety and protection system. The initiative will significantly enhance the energy density of power battery cells and systems for the multi-modal transportation sector, while also delivering excellent fast-charging performance and power output, reaching an internationally leading level.
