CALB's Zhijiu Batteries Power Africa's Largest Energy Storage Project

Recently, CALB provided high-performance energy storage cells for Africa's largest standalone battery energy storage system project—the 153 MW / 612 MWh Red Sands Project in South Africa.

 


The Red Sands Battery Energy Storage Project is located approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Upington in South Africa's Northern Cape province and is part of the country's first Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). CALB has globally launched its mass-produced 314Ah Gen2.0 ultra-long-life energy storage cells. Leveraging its Zhijiu battery technology, CALB has achieved a comprehensive breakthrough in key performance indicators, including long cycle life, high energy efficiency, and exceptional safety and reliability. The cells meet stringent international safety standards, including GB, UL, and IEC, as well as demanding application environment requirements, delivering safe, reliable, and sustained, predictable returns for the customer.
