A First for a Battery Manufacturer | CALB Supplies Battery System for Offshore Support Vessel

Recently, a 1.2 MWh high-safety marine battery system, designed and developed by CALB for Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil company, was successfully launched for sea trials. After becoming the first company in China to receive DNV certification for its proprietary battery system, CALB is now the first Chinese battery manufacturer to successfully deliver an ABS-certified marine battery system.
Karan8, Saudi Aramco's first hybrid offshore support vessel (OSV), is equipped with CALB's advanced battery system. It is scheduled for deployment in the Persian Gulf in the second quarter of 2025 to provide low-carbon port support services for Saudi Aramco. The vessel's hybrid-electric power system is expected to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 30%.
