CALB Signs Hubei “Thousand Sails Initiative” | Empowering Green & Smart Shipping with Leading Technology

On March 26, the launch ceremony of Hubei Port Group’s “Thousand Sails Initiative” — themed Smart Manufacturing Sets Sail, Green Energy Sails Far — was held in Wuhan. CALB signed an on-site agreement with Hubei Yangtze River Ship Supply Chain and Hubei East Lake New Energy, committing to deeply empower the electrification and intelligent transformation of Hubei’s inland waterway shipping with its core marine three-electric technology.
The “Thousand Sails Initiative” is a special program led by Hubei Port Group to drive high-quality development of the green and smart inland shipping industry, and a key measure to advance the “Dual Carbon” goals. It sets clear phased targets:
● By 2027: Deploy over 600 green and smart inland vessels in Hubei, build 5 demonstration routes, and develop & promote 6 dominant standard ship types.
● By 2030: Expand to 1,000 green and smart inland vessels, 10+ demonstration routes, achieve 100% coverage of new energy refueling facilities at core ports along the Yangtze and Han Rivers in Hubei, launch 10 dominant standard ship types, secure independent control of core technologies, and drive exponential growth in the green & smart shipping industry along the Yangtze Golden Waterway.
