On August 28th, Xie Qiu, Vice President of CALB, delivered a presentation on "OS High Manganese Iron Lithium Battery" at the World New Energy Vehicle Conference (WNEVC) 2022. Xie Qiu firstly shared the recent progress of the OS battery platform technology first launched by CALB at WNEVC 2021, and then shared CALB's understanding of the future development of batteries from the levels of safety, cost and sustainability with the guests based on user needs and user experience, while giving CALB's solution - the industry's initial OS high manganese iron lithium battery. 

 

 

 

 

While developing the OS, we have been considering one question - what is the original intention of building the battery? What are the needs of users for batteries? What value can the battery create for the user and what kind of user experience can it improve? With reference to Maslow's model, we have divided the user experience of batteries into four levels. 

 

The first level, underlying demand, which is definitely safety. In terms of safety, we have developed the TPP (Thermal Property Protection) 2.0 technology. 


The second level, the economy of the battery, which is very influential on the user experience. Regarding user economy, we are developing lower cost materials. Through technological innovation at the PACK level, we can give higher energy density and thus extend the range that can be covered by such low cost materials. 


The third level is the user experience in a restrictive sense, which includes the ease of replenishment, the speed of replenishment, acceleration, and range. Now, the battery is even involved in the NVH (Noise/Vibration/Harshness) of the whole vehicle as a structural element. 


The fourth level of demand from users is the ethical level. People are becoming increasingly eco-conscious and expect batteries to be eco-friendly and sustainable. 

 

From the above understanding of the user experience of batteries, together with relevant material technology and structure technology, we have developed the OS high manganese iron lithium battery. It has the following characteristics: Firstly, it has better safety. We use the TPP2.0 industry-first technology of thermoelectric separation to ensure the robustness of the system safety; Secondly, the usage of precious metals has been significantly reduced, including the usage of nickel, cobalt and lithium, which helps users to obtain lower purchase cost under the same mileage conditions; Thirdly, the height of the battery pack is reduced by 7% and the ground clearance is higher, which reduces the probability of bumping; Fourthly, the energy density of the phosphate system battery pack has reached 180Wh/kg and the retention rate of energy density has exceeded 80%; Fifthly, it supports the whole vehicle range up to 700 km; Sixthly, it can be repaired and dismantled; Seventhly, in terms of replenishment experience, our products are rechargeable and exchangeable.
